![]() The biggest problem we have in all this is that the top is already painted, which means the part is not re-usable. Hi Fred, thanks for your email, it was enlightening.Īs I stated in my initial email, my brother did in fact reach out to VIS ("you") directly however I was wrong on one point, which is that you refused to help him and told him to contact the seller, who responded by mailing parts to him that suffered the design flaws described in my original email.Īre you open to working with my brother directly to correct your defective product?Īny of the assistance would still have to be in the same channels they were ordered. ![]() A big thing to note is that nothing was test-fit and only after the paint are you wanting a resolution for a part that we can’t sell as new.Īnother issue is that you’re going to write what is not acceptable, what we need to do and so forth, before stating that you’re doing us a favor allowing us to take care of all this and not pay for paint… Sorry, but that’s not how things work here and not how we discuss issues. He should be reaching out to us directly, or to the seller if he bought the items from a distributor.Īs for the fitment, you’ve had your top for a long time now and are just noticing an issue, because that probably strengthens what you and your brother are trying to make an issue of. I don’t know who you are by your name and email, which isn’t the same as this one you’re using, and there’s no name or anything for your brother. While you’re at liberty to send any type of email you want, this is most definitely not the way that will garner you any positive response. My brother has been reasonable and patient, but this has been his first experience purchasing your products, and it has a very bad look. If you do not stand behind your products then it won't make business sense for me to continue purchasing from you, especially in light of what seems to be a relaxation of your quality control processes. Therefore, please consider sending him the version with the carbon overlay. It probably isn't fair to ask you to paint the hardtop, or to give my brother money for having the new top painted. The only acceptable outcome is to send my brother another hardtop, correctly made, and free of charge. ![]() He reached out to you for resolution, and in response you sent two plugs that are poorly shaped and not paint ready without further fiberglass modification. I, apparently, have the same problem with my top, albeit less severe. After installing it on the car, he realized it was not cut properly, resultinging in inappropriate gaps immediately behind the side window on both sides. He painted it to match his car, at a considerable expense. Some months ago, my brother purchased a fiberglass hardtop for his MR2 spyder. On my other MR2 spyder, I have purchased your fiberglass hardtop and planned on purchasing the decklids again, and your TRD styled parts however, after your treatment of my brother, Dustin xxx, whose email is xxxx I am reconsidering buying any further products from you. On one of them, I purchased your carbon fiber/fiberglass hardtop, and both decklids. I have been a long-time fan of your products. The details of the defects are documented here and here. I'd find the product of his mind amusing if the situation had no victims. ![]() The purpose of this post is to add to the growing body of documentation indicating that VIS is an anti-consumer company, with tortious business practices but I would be remiss to confess I also want to share the love I felt from Fred, the Director of Sales. If you get a defective hardtop then VIS will make no good faith, competent effort to correct their mistake. It speaks for itself and there is no need for my play by play commentary, but TL DR Buying a $2,000+ hardtop from VIS is, at best, a gamble. It is with pleasure that I convey the full extent of my communications with VIS below regarding a defective hardtop they sent my brother.
